Budget Committee Meeting Wed July 12 3:00 P.M

There will be a budget committee meeting tomorrow Wednesday July 10th at 3:00 P.M. at City Hall.
The topic will be to discuss the vacancy in the Recorder/Treasurers office.  The public is invited.

It was also printed in the Baxter Bulletin that a mayor of Bull Shoals could not run again if he was elected.  This is not a fact.  Please see below from the Arkansas Municipal League:

May municipal officials who were appointed to their elected position run for that position at the next election?
Yes. The relevant Arkansas constitutional provisions in this regard are Amendment 29, Sections 1-4. These sections are more significant for what they don’t say than what they do. In essence, they deal with state, district, circuit, county, and township offices, but specifically do not deal with municipal offices. Section 2 prohibits election to succeed oneself, but it does not apply to municipalities. As a result, those appointed to hold municipal offices are eligible to run for that same office (Ark. Atty. Gen. Op. No. 86-392).

The next City Council Workshop will be July 17th 6:30 P.M. at City Hall.  The regular Council meeting will be July 27th at City Hall.  The public is always invited to attend.
